A general introduction to the visual arts designed to create an appreciation of the vocabulary, media, techniques, and purposes of the creative process. Students will critically interpret and evaluate works of art within formal, cultural, and historical contexts. This course fulfills the Creative Arts Core Curriculum requirement.

An instructional program designed to integrate on-campus study with practical hands-on work experience. In conjugation with class seminars, the individual students will set specific goals and objectives in the study of studio art and/or art history. Prerequisites for Studio Arts path: ARTS 1311, 1312, 1316, ARTS 1304 or 1303, and another ARTS elective (or departmental approval). Prerequisites for Art History path: ARTS 1301 OR ARTS 1316, ARTS 1303, ARTS 1304, ARTS 1311 (or departmental approval). Students must be declared Art majors pursuing either the Studio Art path or Art History path. Students should have successfully completed 30+ SCH toward the degree (or departmental approval). This course serves as the capstone class for the Associate of Arts degree in Art.
